The West End shopping
area. The main shopping areas of the West End are Robson Street,
nicknamed the "Street of the Stars," Denman Street and Davie
Street.
Robson Street, as its nickname implies, has many of the cities
most popular "high-end" shops. Many movie stars have been known to frequent the
area.
Denman Street is on the west side
of the West End. It is a street of many small restaurants and shops. Denman's
southern end is at English Bay Beach and the northern end crosses Georgia
Street near the entrance to Stanley Park.
Davie Street runs east-west
and on the northern side of the West End. At its western end Davie Meets Denman
Street at English Bay Beach. This particular junction is "the hub" of the West
End with most activities such as the Celebration of Light and others being
centered in this area. Davie Street has become known as the gay area of the
city with many shops catering towards that market.
